We must start to believe that every choice we make matters because we have value.
Sustainability is the ability to be used without being used up. Did you catch that? “To be used”. There is purpose in sustainability, but there is also redemption. A promise to not be used up; to not be left empty.
In a world that is constantly attempting to pull our attention here or there, we must create rhythms in our life that will not waver. Ones that when the world says we must go here, be this, buy that, do that, we refuse to surrender to those standards. We stand in the rhythms that we have created in our lives that have allowed ourselves to be the most effective, have allowed ourselves to be the best we can be so that we can pour into others. That have allowed us to look beyond ourselves and see how our actions, consumption, and words affect the world and those around us.
We must make ourselves rooted and grounded, so that we can look beyond ourselves.
We must start to believe that every single choice we make matters because we have value.
Sustainability sees the here and now, but it also sees what is to come; it sees the life you are living right now and it looks ahead to the lives that are yet to come. The seeds that we plant now will be reaped by future generations.
This blog will be a documentation of my efforts in learning to be sustainable in many different areas of my life. You will find vulnerability in my struggles, and hopefully, inspiration in my triumphs.
This is my journey to believing that my choices matter and I have value. As you come on this journey with me, I hope you start to believe that you have value too.
